Bicycle Villainy

Curses! Curses! My cunning plan to bicycle downtown has been foiled! I would have gotten away with it too, it it hadn't been for you kids! Alas, my criminal mastermind is no match for the forensic skills of the city's best anti-bicycle cop squadron. Your sophisticated multi-layer dragnet defeated my wicked plan to ride my bicycle through the empty construction zone, clearly marked with "Walk your Bike" signs.

Not to mention the ticket for $58.

However, if this was intended to increase my respect for the forces of law and order, it has failed miserably. I have nothing but contempt for the well-meaning but misguided idiots who draft stupid rules and the smirking minions who enforce them.

If these uniformed bullies represent the good guys, then I am honored and proud to take my stand with the bicycle villains of the world. You have made me into a villain and I will wear my new colors with pride.

I shall continue to ride my bike through construction zones whenever they are empty (and it is safe), and I shall also cross the street against the light (when there are no cars anywhere near by), and urge my friends and family to do the same, and as I do so, I might curse, under my breath, the blue uniformed goon squads.

Wouldn't it be nice if our police were honored and respected public servants that inspired trust and confidence? Officers that we were glad to see, greet and welcome for the sense of safety and community pride they give us - honored for the drunk drivers they stop and the murderers they catch? Unfortunately, if ticketing bicycles is a top priority in Madison...if they value authority higher than community and common sense...I, and all other right thinking people shall only give them the scorn they deserve.

It's best if stupid laws can be fixed, but if they can't...

Stupid Laws Should Be Broken.

Please Help.

*sigh*
